Scientific developments have been marching on at the expense of environmental degradation so some advocate a simple way of life while others disagree. Personally, choosing a simple lifestyle does not necessarily mean forgoing technology.
A simple way of life, just as what our ancestors led, do not pollute the environment at all. They did not produce any chemical products, plastics, for example, or anything non-biodegradable. Instead, they ate fruit, wore the skins of animals and sleep in the caves. Therefore, there will be no issues with environment at all if we opt for a simple way of life. Minimalism is one of the trendiest lifestyles embraced by many people around the world.
Scientists can develop new technologies so environment problems can be solved or alleviated at least. For example, they can raise the fuel economy by introducing hybrid cars or explore clean fuels like electricity to power a car. Tesla is not only clean but quiet so it does not produce any atmospheric pollutants or make any obnoxious noises.
However, no one would be willing to turn back their clock and lead a pre-modern life but we still need to advocate a simple way of life even though technology is indispensable. Stopping wearing fur, driving less and riding more, using double-side printing is something we can do in our daily life.
To conclude, the minimalism lifestyle coupled with the help of technology can contribute to a better solution of environmental problems.
