Banning dangerous sports? While some people say that people have the right to do whatever sports they like. Discuss both views and give your personal opinions.
With extreme sports and related activities becoming more attractive, in recent years, the prevalence of people getting involved in such sports game is skyrocketing. While some people may say that people have the right to do whatever sports they like, there are still many who think that these activities are too dangerous and detrimental to people and their health, and therefore should be banned by government. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my personal opinion at the end.
Admittedly, given the high risk of getting injured by doing these highly unsecured sporting pastimes, the negative effects incurred should never be understated. With involvement in fast-paced and, sometimes extreme high altitude activities, such as rock climbing, bungee jumping, sky diving. It is not uncommon to see people breaking an arm or a leg. What is even worse, many more people, suffer psychologically in their future life, being afraid of standing high or taking a speedy form of transportation, afterwards.
However, although most people are happy with a ban, there are still many who hold the opposite opinion. Firstly, they say that people should be given enough rights and freedom to join whatever activities they like, regardless of their safety rating. After all, whether people are getting hurt or not through doing those dangerous activities are not essential to the general public and just a private matter. Moreover, taking an active part in doing exercise is far better than not getting any. Most people argue that these extreme sports are largely conducive to releasing pressure and overcoming some of their psychological barriers, not to mention the physical fitness and strengthened heart beat they acquire form them.
In conclusion, I contend that despite them being such risky activities that have potentially hazardous effects on people and their general-wellbeing, dangerous sports still should not be banned. I believe the choice has to be made by the people themselves, rather than merely a call for a ban.
