今天的大作文题目并不难,作为语言培训老师,很有发言权~

The size of a class plays an important role in language teaching. While small classes can ensure sufficient and proper instructions for students, it is my personal opinion that it is not the size of the class, but the initiative that teachers and students take that counts in language acquisition.

Indeed, classes with a small number of students can guarantee proper guidance from teachers. After all, the time span for a class is definitive and if there are too many students in a classroom, it is impossible for teachers to take care of everyone in the classroom. For example, in a speaking class with too many students, teachers, however experienced they are, cannot fully correct each student’s pronunciation errors.

However, the size of the language class is not so important as most of us expect. Sometimes more students in a class mean more motivation and more competition from other students. As a consequence, they are more likely to deliver better results under the peer pressure. On the contrary, even for the one on one language class, students may lose their motivation because they cannot compare themselves with others.

The effectiveness of language teaching is more related with the initiative of teachers and students than with how big or small the class is. If a teacher is knowledgeable, passionate and humorous, students can equally benefit. If a student can take his or her initiative in language learning, he or she can still conquer the difficulties associated with big classes, such as inadequate personal guidance, by writing an email or ask their teacher in person.

To sum up, the size of language class is not as important as we think and as long as both teachers and students can take their initiative, language acquisition for students in big classes can be equally effective.
