The first successful discovery of a planetary mass object around a star like the Sun didn’t occur until 1995. The expectation that what we were going to find in the galaxy based upon our own solar system has led us astray, it causes us to look for things that may or may not be there and instead we should be open to the idea of different types of systems could be found wherever we have a new way of looking for.
