So some of the other things that one might find the Large Hadron Collider that would give some inkling of string theory heading that right direction. We might find evidence for extra dimensions in the space. So one of the predictions in string theories is a strange one is that if our universe only has left and right, back and forth, up and down, the three dimensions we know about, string theory actually doesn’t work. The math force apart, the math demands there are more dimensions of space. How might you see those other dimensions, well, one possibility is this in this energetic collisions between protons, the Large Hadron Collider, some of the debris created, the math shows some of the debris created might get ejected in some sense out of our familiar dimensions and thrust into other dimensions that the theory claims should be there. How would we know that? Well, if some debris drifts off our dimensions and goes to the others, it will take away some energy with it, which means that our detector which only sense energy in our dimensions, they will measure a little less energy after the collision than before. A missing energy signature suggesting that some debris has gone to the other dimensions, evidence that other dimensions are real.
