wedding

zoning-out

When our car arrived at Great Ocean Road, it was noon time. So we went sightseeing, and then stopped to try some dumplings. I was so exhausted, I could not stay focused anymore. I was zoning out.

grandma driving

The accident happened so fast. As the victim of the crash was lying lifeless on the road, the old woman who was driving just sat motionless. I went over to ask her if she was OK. But she continued to stare into space like she wasn’t aware of anything. She was zoned out. I think the trauma must have been too great for her.

trauma:

  • a deeply distressing or disturbing experience.    “a personal trauma like the death of a child”
  • emotional shock following a stressful event or a physical injury, which may lead to long-term neurosis.
“the event is relived with all the accompanying trauma”
