Government House Open Day
The Honourable Linda Dessau AM, Governor of Victoria, and Judge Anthony Howard invite you to visit Government House Victoria, one of the nation’s largest and most significant historic buildings.
Visitors are invited to tour the main House, including the Governor’s Private Apartments, and view the historical collection, including antiques from the Johnston Collection and artwork from the National Gallery of Victoria.
Visitors are encouraged to make their way to the Great West Lawn for the flyover from the Royal Australian Air Force Roulettes at 12:30pm.

The RACV Australia Day Picnic and Federation Vehicle Display is a long standing Australia Day event, a celebration within the beautiful Kings Domain Gardens. A fantastic family event where installations, art activations and entertainment collide. The 2016 event will include a Children and Community Precinct where fun, games and education entwine while the RACV and Community Partners Precinct celebrates the beautiful country and land we live in. The Active Precinct provides some fun for all ages – while the picnic will again host the traditional display of veteran, vintage and classic vehicles.

Want to be at the centre of the action on Australia Day? Gather at the front of Melbourne’s impressive Town Hall for the Official Flag Raising Ceremony.
The Official Flag Raising Ceremony will mark the beginning of the Australia Day program of events. The traditional ceremony will include a special address from the Governor of Victoria, official inspection of the Guard of Honour and the Australia Day Affirmation led by the Premier.
Be treated to a moving performance from Victorian State Schools Spectacular and the magnificent presence of the Tri-Service Guard of Honour and the Royal Australian Navy Band.
The Australia Day Parade commences at the conclusion of the Official Flag Raising Ceremony.

One of Melbourne’s favourite Australia Day activities, the vibrant Australia Day Parade sees thousands of people line Swanston Street each year. The Australia Day Parade is an opportunity for more than 100 community and cultural groups to come together and participate in this spectacular annual event.
