The events surrounding the week July 21,1976 were incredibly exciting when the lander landed, it was almost powered up and the team had programmed two photographs to be taken, so that they can be delivered very quickly and back to earth for the press to see and for NASA to be able to confirm that the landers had been in fact landed on Mars. The image that you see at the top was the first commission to come through, smaller focus that directly make sure that the pattern had in fact touched the ground, that the ground was solid that looked like the lander was a bread. This was shown the camera technology was a facsimile camera for those of you not familiar with facts machines, basically scan from left to right, and stress of photograph where appeared. The landing imager lead Tom March was sitting the NASA TV director, basically describing the image that came through. And this is about five o’clock in the morning about half hour after the lander actually landed. And it was a stunning and thoroughly experiment I’m sure for everybody in the room. And a couple of hours later, the second image appeared, black and white as well, higher resolution, showing the Palarama, the landscape. Again, very exciting from the perspective of geologists from the team and image team, are able to describe what Mars might actually be like and the perspects we don’t know the mission world found by logical life.
