String theory was discovered through a number of insights dating back to roughly the late 1960s and it was initially thought of as a theory that would describe the nuclear force. The idea was that roughly speaking quarks would be held together inside of neutrons and protons by a string that would bind them together. That was the initial role of string theory. In that guides, if the theory failed, the main predictions that were inconsistent with observation, so way back then the theory was pretty much tossed into the garbage. However, this is one of the rare inferences in physics were a failed theory was brought back to answer even a big question. It was realised that string theory should not just be used to describe the nuclear force. It should be used to describe the gravitational force as well, as well as the electromagnetic force and all of the force in the nature. And in this souped-up guides, string theory has been far more successful. We still have not been able to test this theory, it’s a very complex theory and the mathematics is very difficult, but there have been no internal inconsistencies that have required us to discard the theory and moreover released on paper itself has a big problem but in grabbing quantum mechanics together.
