Work that I focused on some years ago had to do with what would happen if in the extra dimensions of string theory, space would rip apart. Now that ripen space from Einstein’s perspective would be a singularity. His math could not cope with it. We use the mathematics of string theory to analyse that terrain space and found we could analyse it, perfectly well and there is no catastrophe and in fact, we found that the tail that would repair itself in the manner that allowed the fundamental shape, the so-called topology of the extra dimension to change. So not only could we handle the singularity in string theory, we found that they let two exhausted processes where the shape of space underwent a kind of change that Einstein would not thought it’s possible, so it’s a very fruitful way of curing a problem and coming to a sparkling new conclusion.
