deteriorate vi.to become worse
Ethel’s health has deteriorated. Ethel 的健康在恶化。
America’s deteriorating economy 美国正在恶化的经济。
deteriorate into sth ：to develop into a bad or worse situation
The argument deteriorated into a fight. 这场讨论演变成了打斗
exacerbate vt. (fml 文) make (pain, disease, a situation) worse; aggravate 使（疼痛﹑ 疾病﹑ 情形）恶化; 加剧:
Scratching exacerbates a skin rash. 皮疹搔後会恶化.
Her mother’s interference exacerbated the difficulties in their marriage. 她母亲从中干预使他们的婚姻雪上加霜.
worsen vt.& vi.v to become worse or make something worse
vi. A lot of teachers expect the situation to worsen over the next few years. 很多老师认为这种情况在接下来的几年会恶化。
vt. Interfering now could worsen the problem. 现在干涉会让这个问题恶化。
文波老师提示：
deteriorate 是不及物动词，后面可以加into 指恶化成…
exacerbate 是及物动词，使动用法， 很多动词都是这样。注意拼写很近的另外一个词：exasperate vt. 使…生气 发音不一样
worsen 既是及物有时不及物动词，但是不如上面两个词书面。
